
Prof. Ugo Delfino, a graduate in Medicine and Surgery, specializing in Anesthesia and Cardiology, traveled to New York to the Neurosurgery Clinic of Prof. A. Ecker in 1978 to learn the most modern selective transcutaneous ganglion surgery with fluoroscopy focused on trigeminal neuralgia.
Since then, his clinical activity has focused on anesthesia and neurolytic blocks for chronic and malignant pain, especially on the trigeminal nerve, with surgical records that currently exceed 9400 cases of chronic trigeminal neuralgia.
In 1989 he was appointed Associate Professor of Pain Therapy Discipline at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Turin. In January 1992, he became the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Chair of Cardiac surgery of the University of Turin, until 1998. In 1999 he was appointed Director of the Second School of Specialization in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Turin and from 2002 to 2003 he was Director of the University Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the San Giovanni Maggiore Hospital (Molinette) in Turin.
Prof. Ugo Delfino, as Emeritus Director of S.C.D.U. “Anesthesia and Intensive Care 1” of the San Giovanni Battista Hospital in Turin, practices as a Professional of Pain Management at the Sedes Sapientiae Clinic of Turin, his scientific activity is represented by 146 publications and four monographs on Analgesic Therapy.
